Second Grade News The second grade wanted to end the year on a positive note. They wanted to share how fascinated they were by each stage in the development of their butterflies. They were very excited to see them emerge from their chrysalids! They were excited to release them in Lynn Woods this past week.
Past News
The second graders are learning telling time and calendars in math.
In science they are learning about butterflies. They have received their butterfly eggs (larva) and have begun their study. They are excited about watching the caterpillars change.
In language, the students are working on tenses and writing questions. They will also write a contrasting, narrative writing on frogs and toads.
The students in grade two continue to study continents and physical features of maps and atlas’ in social studies.
The students now know all six syllable types and use them to help them read their spelling words. In reading, they are finishing up their reading books and know about different types of genres.
They had a wonderful time making their butterfly dictionaries for science night.

The students in grade two will be studying continents and physical features of maps in social studies.
They are reading for information during their reading. In phonics, they are working on two, three and sometimes five syllable words.
They had a wonderful time making their butterfly dictionaries for science night.
